In the 1920’s you moved to New England as part of the Great Migration. To try and find a job in the textile industry. Racism and discrimination meant you could only find a part time job at a grocery store. When all of the workers in a Fall River Massachusetts factory were drafted for the war you were finally given a job as the first black man at the factory making Army Uniforms. Your work in the uniform factory got you a promotion and a new job making gunnery turrets for b-22's. You had twenty men working under you and were the highest paid African American in the war production effort.
